Karen
I’m Karen, head trainer at Tails. I have had dogs all my adult life, but only started my training journey 7 years ago. I was originally asked to train dogs on a voluntary basis and while doing that I realised I had finally found something I was good at, it is a passion.
I have many qualifications but it’s not just about a piece of paper, anyone can pass a course, but not everyone can read a dogs body language, see the slightest change in their ear set, a twitch of the nose, a sideways glance that can show they are anxious or ready to launch, unsure of the next step.
I love all dogs, not met one I haven’t liked yet, but my real love lies with the challenging pups, the reactive, anxious, aggressive ones, the ones that people think can’t be helped, the ones on their final chance, to see them change, learn to play, learn to trust, see their confidence growing and their owners relaxing, I love a challenge!!!
I have 8 dogs at home, I love showing my Basset hounds, doing agility with my labs and watching my husky race, but the best bit is snuggling on the sofa.
